My name is Kabelo.  I have just under a year of experience in private lending, and during that time I realised there is a major opportunity to innovate the way lenders approach client retention.  To explore this gap, I built a bank-statement–driven risk assessment tool that analyzes cash-flow patterns, NSF activity, overdrafts, liquidity strength, and revenue volatility.  ​ I’ve personally had clients I really enjoyed working with, and it often made me think about how much more connected previous clients should feel to the business. Private lenders do incredible work for SMEs, and yet many of these businesses receive their funding and then go on with their lives with little to no ongoing connection to the firm that, in some cases, literally kept their business alive. That disconnect has never made sense to me. Private lenders should be capitalizing on these relationships, not letting them fade after the deal is funded. That’s where this risk tool comes in. It gives clients something of real value while keeping them inside the lender’s ecosystem. When/if their financial behaviour signals potential risk, the tool naturally encourages them to reach out to someone at the firm.  To clarify - this is not supposed to replace an underwriting engine like Ocrolus, it is meant to be a simple, non-intrusive way to maintain engagement and strengthen long-term retention. ​ ​
